Congratulations to UKM for organising their first World Rare Diseases Day celebration on 29 February 2024!
The event was organised by the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine together with Children’s Specialist Hospital (HPKK) and Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) started with a warm welcome by the programme chairman, Professor Dr Cheah Fook Choe.
Assisted by a teenager living with a rare disease, Muhammad Afiff Eshan bin Mohammad Fadzly from the Malaysian Apert Syndrome Association, the historic event was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Kuala Lumpur Campus) UKM.
MYPOPI and several other rare disease organisations such as DEBRA Malaysia, MND Malaysia, Genetic Counseling Society Malaysia, Malaysian Prader-Willi Syndrome Association and Hemophilia Society Malaysia participated in this historic event by launching a week-long public awareness campaign at HPKK.
