What is PID?

By May 31st, 2023No Comments1 min read
  • Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID), also known as inborn errors of immunity (IEI), are a group of more than 450 rare, chronic conditions in which part of the body’s immune system is missing or does not function correctly.
  • These conditions are caused by hereditary genetic defects and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity.
  • PID, or primary immunodeficiencies, all disrupt the body’s immune system. Since the immune system’s primary function is to protect against infection, people with PID are more likely to get infections.
