In conjunction with World Primary Immunodeficiency Week 2023, Malaysia Patient Organisation for Primary Immunodeficiencies (MYPOPI) is collaborating with Pusat Darah Negara, #KitaCare, Happy Cure KL, IK academy, AMSA Malaysia, and Koha Digital to organize a blood donation
The Blood donation was held in Dewan Wargamas Sri Gombak on 15th April 2023 (Saturday)
One donation can save as many as three lives including those with Primary Immunodeficiency. Primary Immunodeficiencies (PI) are a large and growing group of over 500 different genetic disorders caused when some components of the immune system do not work properly. PI if left underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed will lead to illness, disability, permanent organ damage, or even death. Immunoglobulin (Ig) replacement therapy is one of the most important and lifesaving therapies for PI patients and is often lifelong. Ig replacement therapy is derived from the plasma which is one component of the blood
The blood donation campaign was successful and has collected 45 bags from 59 pre-registered from 8.30am till 3.00 pm
